On March 22nd, 1984 I was still living in England and, because we had no idea back then who Dave Letterman was, I missed this.
What an amazing performance. Even Dylan having to hunt around for a harmonica in the right key does not damage this blistering renditon of one of Dylan's finest songs.
He had it written into his contract with the show that he would not be interviewed. So his one word exchange with Dave at the end is it folks. The song - as always with Bob - had to speak for him.
Enjoy it...it may become inactive any day now. Sony - owners of Columbia, Bob's record label - seems to not want videos like this out there for free!
