Michael Vinens

Great post. Obama's appearing at Ground Zero on Thursday and guess who he invited to join him--George Bush (who declined, in an uncharacteristically noble gesture). How gracious is our president? Always going out of his way to find a point of conciliation, often times more than I would like. We are so lucky to have his calm, wise, thoughtful leadership.

Believe me Michael, Bush knows what he was (is) and what he did. I doubt he sleeps at night.

I'm glad he declined. This would never have happened under Bush. For all of his and Cheney's bravado, they lacked the balls to tackle the real problem. They were better at inventing problems. They were a weird combination of panic and arrogance I hope this country never sees again.
